Toddler Time is a one-hour program presented to children ages 3 to 5 and their parents usually once a month at The Learning Center. Topics and activities are presented that are fun and enjoyable to the children while educating their parents. Past subjects include Healthy Habits, Exercise, Nutrition, Gun Safety, Halloween Safety, Character Counts, Manners, Poison Control, Healthy Environment and Child Safety. Toddler Time also introduces the children and their parents to our hospital through presentations and tours on hospital related topics, such as "Curious George goes to the Hospital" and "Mr. Bones and X-rays".
Many outside agencies participate in Toddler Time presentations including the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, Bayou Council on Alcoholism, KLRZ Radio and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Department.
The hospital staff also devotes their time by teaching classes in "Eddie Eagle Gun Safety", "Exercise is Fun", "Taking Care of our Community", "Building Good Character" and "Mind Your Manners".
Also, on occasion we have offered Kid Care ID's and Fingerprint identification as well as home safety. Toddler Time is a fun experience for kids that introduce them to a healthy lifestyle.
