Lady of the Sea General Hospital
    Frequently Asksed Questions

When are VISITING HOURS for patients?

Family and friends are encouraged to visit patients as this aids in the recovery process. The front lobby entrance is opened from 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. A family member is encouraged to be with a patient at all times while on our medical / surgical floor. Children are welcome in the daytime, but at night we can accommodate only adult family members. Please remember to be considerate of other patients and their families who may be sharing your room.

Our ICU Lounge is located in the west wing (north hall) of the 2nd floor, directly across from the service / employee elevators. Visiting hours in the Intensive Care Unit are limited to 8:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. for short visits only.

I received a BILL and I have a question. Where should I call?

Our billing department is available weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please call 1-(866)-308-7686 and ask for a Patient Account Representative.

I have tests ordered from a doctor who doesn't practice with Lady of the Sea. Can I have TESTS PERFORMED HERE?

Lady of the Sea General Hospital is well equipped to perform many tests onsite. Speak to your doctor about having your tests completed at Lady of the Sea. Call to schedule an appointment if necessary, and the results will be delivered directly to your doctor according to his orders. We believe these services offer a convenient location for our area residents to have their medical needs taken care of.

What COMMUNITY EDUCATION classes or services do you provide?

Our Learning Center hosts a wide variety of events, classes, and camps. Our services appeal to kids, adults, patients, and even the general public. Please see the Learning Center section of our website for additional information.

I used the emergency room recently and I received three SEPARATE BILLS from different companies - are these bills for me?

Hospital billing does not include professional fees for pathology, anesthesiology, x-ray, certain physician services, etc. If your emergency room visit required additional testing, it is possible that you will receive separate bills reflecting services from different providers. For instance, you may have one bill from the hospital, one bill from the ER physician, and one from the Radiologist. You may call a Patient Account Representative at 1-(866)-308-7686 with further questions. An itemized bill, including all of the hospital's charges, is available to you upon request within ten days from the date of your visit.

Does Lady of the Sea provide any HOME HEALTH SERVICES?

Yes, Lady of the Sea Home Health is available to anyone requiring medical services at home from Larose to Grand Isle. Please click on Home Health for a detailed explanation of our home health services, then contact our Home Health agency at (985) 632-6900.

I'm interested in an advanced health care directive or LIVING WILL. Do you have information on those?

An Advanced Health Care Directive allows you to make decisions about end of life care while you are still healthy. A Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare allows you to appoint an agent to represent you when you can no longer do so for yourself. These documents are easy to draft and can be modified or revoked if you change your mind. For additional information on advanced health care directives, which includes living wills, please contact Social Services at (985)632-8316 or Patient Relations at (985)632-8227.
